Teacher of the Year 2027 – Nadalye Garlin

Nadalye Garlin is a dedicated and passionate 2nd grade teacher at Carrie Downie Elementary, where she has proudly served the Colonial School District for the past three years. With a strong foundation in both elementary and special education, Nadalye earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware and went on to complete her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University in 2025.

Nadalye’s teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a student-centered, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported. She is deeply committed to helping her students reach their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally—while building the confidence they need to achieve their individual goals. Her classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, relationships are prioritized, and a lifelong love of learning is nurtured.

She makes a meaningful difference in the lives of her students by fostering strong, genuine connections with both students and their families. Nadalye believes that these relationships are the foundation of a positive and productive learning environment, and she works intentionally to ensure every child feels safe, included, and empowered.

Driven by a desire to make a lasting impact, Nadalye chose the teaching profession to provide young learners with the same opportunities that shaped her own educational journey. Her commitment to growth is evident in her pursuit of advanced education early in her career, completing her master’s degree during just her second year of teaching.

Outside of the classroom, Nadalye enjoys staying active and adventurous. She recently discovered a passion for running and has already completed the Philadelphia Marathon twice. She also loves to travel and has taken multiple cross-country road trips with family and friends.
